Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited educational program. Master's or Doctoral degrees acceptable.
- Active Michigan occupational therapist license required prior to start.
- NBCOT (National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy) required.
- OTR (Occupational Therapist) credentials required.
- BLS - Basic Life Support. Obtainable within 1 month of hire; highly preferred to have at hire.
- More than 1 year of experience preferred; new graduates will be considered.
- Outpatient experience preferred. Willingness to float to acute care as needed.
- Ability to complete affiliate-specific orientation, new hire competency, and annual OSHA training per Exposure Control Plan.
- Ability to use personal protective equipment correctly and to work where exposed to communicable diseases.
- Interpersonal and communication skills for effective verbal and written communication in English.
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate problem solving, organization, time management, and initiative.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to demonstrate and teach treatment routines to professional and non-professional staff.
- AOTA membership preferred.

Position Details
- Primary Specialty: Occupational Therapist.
- Facility Type: Outpatient with occasional float to acute care.
- Shift: Days. Typical schedule Monday–Friday, approximately 9:00 AM–5:30 PM. Weekend rotation required approximately one weekend per month.
- Duration: Direct hire, ongoing position.
- Physical demand level: Medium. Occasional lifting or carrying 21–50 lbs., frequent tasks around 20 lbs., and constant tasks around 10 lbs. Requires mobility, dexterity, and ability to wear PPE.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate patient function using formal and informal assessments to determine physical, cognitive, developmental, and social status.
- Develop goal-specific treatment plans based on assessment data and patient tolerance.
- Document treatment plans and updates in compliance with physician orders and affiliate policies.
- Schedule and provide frequency- and duration-specific treatment, coordinating with patients, families, and clinical staff.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on conditions, prognosis, and treatment rationales, including home programs.
- Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, aides, and students per regulatory standards.
- Recommend and assist with ordering adaptive and supportive equipment.
- Complete daily documentation required for billing and compliance.
- Participate in team conferences, interdisciplinary meetings, program development, and community education.
- Function as case manager for assigned cases as required.
Working Conditions
- Exposure to stressful situations including trauma, grief, and death.
- Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other infectious materials. Compliance with bloodborne pathogen and TB testing required.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and postural changes such as stooping and crouching.
- Regular and predictable attendance required. Ability to maintain alertness and handle multiple tasks.
