Physical Therapist


We’re looking for a Physical Therapist to take on a full-time role in an outpatient facility in Alpena, MI. Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program approved by the APTA.
  • Active Michigan state license or other applicable state license required to start the position. Compact license not accepted.
  • Physical Therapist (PT) licensure is required.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support. Within 1 month of hire or transfer is highly preferred.
  • Successful completion of facility-specific orientation and new hire competency.
  • Ability to supervise Physical Therapist Assistants, Aides, home health aides, and students per affiliate and regulatory standards.
  • Experience primarily in outpatient physical therapy. Ability to float to acute care when needed.
  • Demonstrated competence with documentation and billing procedures per affiliate policy and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to perform medium physical demand level duties: occasionally lift or carry 21-50 lbs., frequently 20 lbs., and continuously 10 lbs.; frequent walking/standing and postural changes.

Schedule:

  • Days. Monday–Friday, approximately 9:00 AM–5:30 PM.
  • Weekend rotation required approximately one weekend per month.
  • Position status: Direct hire. Duration noted for recruiting purposes.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patient function using formal and informal measures to determine musculoskeletal, neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular status.
  • Develop goal-specific treatment plans based on assessment and patient tolerance.
  • Submit written treatment regimes to be included in the physician-authorized plan of treatment and update plan of care as patient status changes.
  • Coordinate treatment frequency and duration with patients, families, and clinical staff.
  • Provide education to patients, families, and caregivers regarding condition, prognosis, and interventions including exercise, modalities, and home programs.
  • Provide supervision and delegation to PTAs, aides, and students, and co-sign orders as necessary.
  • Recommend and assist with securing adaptive/supportive equipment as indicated.
  • Complete daily documentation required for billing and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication with internal and external customers and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Participate in program development, process improvement, team conferences, and community education as appropriate.
  • Function as case manager for assigned cases as required.


Work Environment and Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Required interpersonal and communication skills in English.
  • Must be able to use personal protective equipment correctly and follow OSHA and infection control policies.
  • May be exposed to communicable diseases and blood-borne pathogens; compliance with testing requirements is required.
  • Computer competency required, including familiarity with Microsoft Windows.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with reasonable accommodation.
