Job Title: Physical Therapist - Full Time (#457802)


Physical Therapist — Inpatient, Hospital (Days)


We’re looking for a Physical Therapist to take on a full-time role with an area hospital in Owosso, MI. You will evaluate and treat functional deficits due to illness, injury, musculoskeletal dysfunction, or congenital conditions. Work will include care across the lifespan, from birth through geriatrics, in an acute care inpatient setting. You will develop and implement treatment programs, supervise PTAs and support staff, provide patient and family education, and document all clinical activity. Minimum Requirements:

  • Graduate degree in Physical Therapy (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral) from an accredited program that meets Michigan licensure educational requirements.
  • Eligible for or hold active licensure to practice Physical Therapy in the state of Michigan.
  • Successful completion of all required field work placements.
  • Demonstrated competency in physical therapy principles and techniques.
  • Field experience in physical therapy, including acute care or hospital experience preferred.
  • Ability to supervise PTAs, students, and support staff.
  • Ability to perform required physical demands, including frequent standing, kneeling, crouching, lifting up to 20 lbs frequently and occasional lifting/pushing/pulling between 20–100 lbs.
  • Proficiency with standard clinical documentation and basic office computer systems.
  • Willingness to work day shift with weekend requirements. Shift start time typically 7:30 AM. Schedule is approximately 80 hours per pay period.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients to determine needs, strengths, age-related problems, and rehabilitation potential. Perform periodic reassessments.
  • Plan individualized treatment programs based on assessment results, physician orders, and clinical judgment.
  • Provide direct treatment using appropriate modalities and techniques across the lifespan.
  • Document all necessary clinical information in the medical record.
  • Delegate treatment tasks appropriately to PTAs, students, and technicians, and supervise delegated care.
  • Coordinate services and treatment plans with patients, families, and other disciplines.
  • Provide patient, family, and community education, and deliver in-services as requested.
  • Serve as clinical instructor or mentor when requested.
  • Demonstrate job-related patient safety and effective use of equipment and technology.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet departmental needs.


Essential Technical, Mental, Sensory, and Interpersonal Abilities:

  • Ability to adapt and maintain focus in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Capacity to read and interpret policies, regulations, and clinical documentation.
  • Clinical knowledge sufficient to work autonomously and to supervise PTAs and aides.
  • Visual, auditory, tactile, and motor skills necessary for patient assessment, palpation, and treatment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with patients, families, and staff.
  • Professional interpersonal skills to interact with multidisciplinary teams and external customers.
